About MERLIN

MERLIN (Multimodality in Educational Research and Learning International Network) is a global initiative dedicated to advancing research and dialogue at the intersection of multimodality, educational semiotics, and learning. MERLIN brings together researchers and educators committed to multimodality and learning and to create opportunities for connections, mentorship, and international collaboration.

MERLIN advances the field of educational semiotics, drawing on social semiotics and the scholarship of multimodality. Learning is understood in its broadest sense as a process of meaning-making that occurs through participation in communicative and social practices, both within and beyond formal educational settings.
